This a great story shared by @renergracie. He almost lost his finger to an infection and subsequent complications. It is a valuable lesson to surgeons and athletes alike. Even with a routine surgery in a young, healthy athlete infections can happen and they can be a disaster. We are in a constant war with bacteria - one cannot give them any opportunity.
