We joined the people of Seaham to remember the victims of the town’s colliery disasters today. An explosion at Seaham colliery claimed the lives of 164 men and boys on 8 September 1880. This followed the disaster of 1871 in which 26 miners were killed. A service of commemoration for the victims of both disasters was held at Christ Church today.
