Sour dough bread starter 1 cup milk 1 cup flour 1/4 cup sugar. Mix ingredients together in plastic or glass bowl, cover with dish cloth and sit on the countertop for 20 to 48 hours. Once starter has started the bubble, it is ready to be used. For most recipes, you will use 1 cup of the starter. To refeed, pull out a cup of the starter and either use it or discard it.
